SUMMARY

The Monjes de la Pacana stand alone on the high altiplano, shaped by wind over millions of years, with no light to the horizon in any direction. We photograph them at 4,400 metres, under a Bortle 1 sky — the same plateau, the same altitude and the same dry air that brought ALMA and the world’s highest observatory here as TAO and FYST.

This is our most demanding expedition. Four thousand metres is real altitude and a very cold wind being part of the Cordillera de los Andes, so let us know every detail we need to know to make your experience better. We offer profesional assitance to these matters.

WHAT WE BRING

A professional guide and a driver who has done this road at night many times. Professional photographer with previous briefing for any detail of the excursión. Cameras, tripods and lenses if they are needed. Hot food and drinks. Warm layers, chairs and blankets. Red headlamps for everyone.

If you have never photographed at night, we will set the camera up with you, explain what every setting is doing and why, and stay beside you until you are working on your own. Nobody here will make you feel slow. Most of our guests take their first real night photograph on this expedition.

If you shoot professionally, we will give you the site, the hour, the moon, the sky reading and a 4×4 that can reach places a van cannot — and then get out of your way. Tell us what you are trying to make and we will plan the night around it
