SUMMARY

How the night works

Your camp is standing before you arrive. A host from our team sets up the Dome Station — beds, table, dinner, showers, toilets, everything — so that you arrive to a camp that is already yours.

Dinner or Barbecue and breakfast, cooked on site. Breakfast is served at a natural viewpoint, as the sun comes up.

A guided night at the telescope, for as long as you want it. Nobody is waiting to drive you back.

Someone stays. Your host sleeps at a base camp 50 to 100 metres away — close enough to reach you in a minute, far enough that the night is yours. Drivers and guides return to town unless you would rather they didn’t.

Two-way radio in both camps, and a satellite radio, with a short briefing so you know how to use them. There is no phone signal out here. This is what replaces it.

First aid equipment on site.

At least 15 km from San Pedro, at a site chosen for the sky rather than for the drive.

Dome occupancy is arranged around your group — tell us who is coming and we set it up accordingly.

Back in San Pedro at 10am.

THE TOUR INCLUDES

The people, and getting there

A host, a guide and a professional driver — your host stays the night at a base camp nearby
Door-to-door 4×4 transfer from your hotel, and back in San Pedro by 10am
Radio and satellite communication in both camps, and first aid equipment on site

The camp

A private Dome Station, raised for your group before you arrive and taken down after you leave
A real bed — mattress, bedding and thermal blankets, not a sleeping bag on the ground
Heating. The desert drops below 5°C at night; you will not feel it.
Private portable bathroom and shower.
Robes, slippers, sandals and a stocked washbag, so you can arrive with a small bag and nothing else.
Comfortable g chairs for the hours you will spend looking up

The sky

A guided night at the telescope with an astronomy talk, for as long as you want it
An astrophotography session at two locations — [6] edited images per person, on professional equipment
A time-lapse film of your night, shot while you sleep and sent to you afterwards

The table

A welcome drink and appetiser of your choosing
Dinner or Barbecue cooked on site, and hot and cold drinks through the night
Breakfast at a natural viewpoint, as the sun comes up
